Save money on your energy bills with solar panels and batteries for your home

Out of the whole country, South Australians face the highest electricity charges. So, the fact that so many households are choosing to make the switch to solar is no surprise!

Solar is an eco-friendly source of electricity that can massively reduce your electricity bills. Plus, it gives you the chance to boost your energy independence and mitigate the impact of blackouts and brownouts, all the while generating your very own clean, green power.

At Social Energy, our experts are committed to providing solar solutions that will enable you to reduce your energy bills and contribute to a greener future. When you look at the cost-saving benefits of going solar combined with the government incentives to help you get started, solar energy is clearly the most efficient way to power your home – giving you more money to spend on the things that really matter!

Knock money off your system with STCs in South Australia

One of the best things about having a solar system is the small-scale technology certificates (STCs), which is, effectively, a coupon or voucher to use against the cost of installing a solar energy system in your home.

The government issues STCs for Social Energy to use to offset the discount we give you.  We provide the discount and then exchange the certificates for money back from the government. The amount of certificates you’re issued depends on the size of your solar power system and where you live. The more STCs you’re awarded on your system, the more money gets taken off the overall installation cost.

In South Australia, you have the potential to earn an estimated $4,000 in STCs for having an average solar PV system installed.

In order to claim your STCs, you need to have your solar system installed by a CEC-Accredited Installer, such as those who complete all of our solar installations.

When you choose Social Energy, we take care of the full STC process for you. We claim and sell your STCs on your behalf for the best possible price which means we can help you maximise your savings.

What might I expect to pay for my solar PV system after STC rebates in South Australia?

Unlike many companies that will try to sell you a one size fits all system at a set price, that likely won’t meet your exact needs, we’ll take the time to give a bespoke price and system design based upon your actual needs.

By getting a system that’s designed specifically for your home, energy usage and quality expectations, you won’t be left with a disappointing system that doesn’t deliver the savings you deserve. A system design from our expert team is 100% free and you have no obligation to buy, so you’ve got nothing to lose and everything to gain!

You may be eligible for the SA Home Battery Scheme

Maximise your energy savings by installing a solar battery to go with your solar panels.  A solar battery stores the excess energy you generate during daylight hours for use at night. Purchasing a solar battery has become more accessible than ever since the launch of the South Australian Government-backed Home Battery Scheme.

Under the Home Battery Scheme, you gain access to state subsidies and low-interest loans to help pay for a battery and a new solar system if needed.

If you’re a homeowner in South Australia, you are eligible to save with the Home Battery Scheme providing that you meet the following criteria:

  • You have not already claimed a subsidy on the Home Battery Scheme for your property.
  • Your property is residential.
  • Your battery system is on the approved list (all of our batteries at Social Energy are approved).
  • Your battery system is installed by a qualified system provider (all of our systems are installed by CEC Accredited Installers, so you’re good to go).

Subsidy values are $250 per kWh for energy concession holders and $150 per kWh for all other households up to a value of $2000.

This level of payment will not last forever – as more people take up the offer, the value of the subsidy will drop, so the sooner you move to solar, the more you will save.

Social Energy is an approved VPP Provider for the scheme

If you want to buy a solar battery system, you can cut your costs even further by joining a virtual power plant (VPP).

Never heard of a VPP or Virtual Power Plant? Don’t worry, most people haven’t yet. They’re the technology transforming energy networks around the world. In essence, a VPP connects your solar battery with thousands of others across the country to help protect the grid from blackouts. To do this, in exchange for a small fraction of your excess energy, your battery provides a lucrative service to energy companies. As a leading VPP, in exchange for your system delivering this service, we pay you back a massive credit on your bill, with our leading 50c per kWh feed-in tariff. Unlike some newer VPPs, our system is proven, with over 7,000 active systems already working together worldwide!

Social Energy is an approved VPP provider, one of a select few companies across Australia. Being part of a VPP offers a huge amount of financial incentives, rewards and protection.

For homeowners based in SA, (as well as in NSW and QLD), you are eligible to join our Better Together VPP program and receive access to our exclusive 50c feed-in tariff for the first 300kWh per quarter and a competitive rate after that.
